GAITHERSBURG,
MD -May 14, 2002-Recovery Point Systems, Inc. announced today that it has concluded a
unique reinsurance agreement with GE Disaster Recovery
Services (“GEDRS”) under which RPS will guarantee full
deployment of contracted customer configurations, even in the event that
all RPS facilities are fully occupied during a regional disaster.
“The potential for resource saturation on the part of recovery
vendors during a regional disaster is a serious concern for many risk
managers,” said Marc Langer, President of RPS. “The reality is that
there are more aggregate subscribers than there are seats and floor
provisioned resources. Only GEDRS has the standing inventory and depth
of experience to mitigate that risk. The traditional remedy of trying
to roll customers back to alternate geographic sites just doesn’t work
for end-user recovery.”
Under the new reinsurance program, RPS’s hot-site technology is
secured for each subscriber, on a one-to-one basis, by an equivalent
GEDRS Quick-ship configuration. If floor-provisioned technology is in
use, the redundant GEDRS configuration will be provided within 24 hours
and installed in guaranteed data center space at the RPS hotsite or at
any other customer designated location in the country. End-user
workspaces are also secured by fully provisioned, mobile
configurations, on a per-seat basis.
