Recovery Point Invests in Additional
IBM Enterprise Class Mainframe
GAITHERSBURG, MD; February 14 2011 - Recovery Point, a leading national provider of integrated business continuity solutions to government agencies and commercial and non-profit organizations, has completed the installation of a third IBM Mainframe environment.
Mainframe based hot-site service requirements are in increasing demand in the disaster recovery industry, according to Dick Fordham, Recovery Point Director of Marketing and Strategy.
“We made significant investments in our facilities and service infrastructure in 2010 and will continue to do so in 2011, the latest being the installation of a third IBM Mainframe to support our growing client base,” says Dick. “I don’t believe any service provider can accurately claim to be in the hot-site services business if they are not able to provide the whole range of technology platforms, including mainframes.”
The Z10 Enterprise Class Mainframe has 256 GB of memory and a combination of over 10,000 general purpose and IFL MIPS. The three book system also has pre-provisioned capacity to expand to 17,500 MIPS.
“By providing multiple IBM mainframe platforms, Recovery Point joins an elite group of only three services providers nationwide with such technology. The additional mainframe supports the rapid expansion of our services to support clients across the United States,” adds Dick. “This, in addition to our Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute and our nationwide private cloud network, means that clients can cost effectively access all of our services from anywhere in the country via any carrier, and have them delivered from the most secure and resilient commercially available facilities in the country.”
