GAITHERSBURG, MD; May 3 2010 -

Recovery Point, a leading national provider of integrated business continuity solutions to government agencies and commercial and non-profit organizations has completed the upgrade of its private fiber network to optical.

Recovery Point’s carrier-neutral, DWDM private cloud network is unique among hosting and disaster recovery providers. Over 300 miles of diversely routed dark-fiber infrastructure connects multiple Recovery Point facilities directly to redundant peering nodes, which encompass some of the largest Internet exchange points in the country. Recovery Point’s carrier-neutral service now offers clients’ cost-competitive direct access to over 400 leading global carriers, including upstream access to the backbones of the world’s leading Internet providers. This unique infrastructure allows clients to eliminate the complexity and expenses of last-mile charges, local loops and long-haul circuits and enjoy the benefits of direct cross-connects, high-performance network reliability and flexible, scalable services.

Multiple fiber entries separated by a minimum of 100 feet, and dual DMARCs separated by a minimum of 300 feet are provided at all Recovery Point sites.

Recovery Point’s Maryland sites are provisioned with a 15-mile private campus backbone using multiple, geographically diverse dark fiber rings. Dual fiber DMARCs spread a minimum of 300 feet apart are provided at each site. The core backbone is powered by fully meshed 10GB Alcatel 9700 Omni network switches and Ekinops 360 optical DWDM equipment.

Recovery Point’s carrier-neutral design replaces “last-mile” costs and performance issues with a flexible, competitive environment in which clients select the services that meet their strategic objectives,” says Marc Langer President of Recovery Point. “Our clients benefit from controlled costs and world-class network performance, with access to all of our services delivered from the most resilient, secure commercial facilities available  in the country as evidenced by our Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute,” concludes Marc.
