Recently, Recovery Point was awarded prestigious Tier III certification by the Uptime Institute, a foundation for education, certification, and leadership for the enterprise data center industry and data center professionals. This all sounds great, but what does it mean? In 1993 the Uptime Institute opened its doors, with the intent of becoming the authority in the data center industry. Along the way they developed the Tier Classification system for rating the concurrent maintainability and fault tolerance of data center facilities. In doing so, a method was forged for people to discern between companies offering data vaulting, tape backup, hot and cold sites, and any other data management services.
